She was heading to the Molina Orosa Hospital, but the birth occurred on the way. A 38-year-old woman was assisted on the Tahíche road by the Canary Islands Emergency Service after going into labor while traveling from Mala to the Molina Orosa Hospital.
The incident occurred around 10:00 PM this Tuesday. At that time, the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security (Cecoes) 112 received a call from the pregnant woman's companion, informing them that she had gone into labor in the vehicle while they were heading to the hospital.
112 immediately activated emergency resources to attend to the woman. The Canary Islands Emergency Service dispatched two ambulances, one of them a medicalized unit, which intercepted the vehicle near Tahíche to assist the woman in labor. The healthcare personnel proceeded to assist with the delivery. Once they stabilized the mother and the newborn, they took charge of their immediate transfer to the hospital center for observation.
