The strong wind and swell recorded this Sunday in Lanzarote forced the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium to carry out several interventions in different municipalities on the island to guarantee safety and prevent risks to the population.

One of the interventions took place at 10:46 PM on Norte street in Arrecife, where a braided electrical distribution pole was found broken at its base, with a risk of falling. The personnel from the Central Park (Bravo 5, Level 2) proceeded to secure it at its upper part to a nearby rooftop and reported the incident to Unelco for its definitive repair.

Also in Arrecife, on Vizcaya street, firefighters acted after being alerted by the Local Police due to an electrical line cable that had been left hanging towards the public road after part of the tensioner that held it broke. The crew from the South Park (Bravo 2, Level 2) proceeded to cut the cable, ending the service without any personal injuries being recorded.

In the municipality of San Bartolomé, specifically on Los Alisios street in Playa Honda, at 10:53 AM, a pergola that had detached from a house and was resting on the roof of another was intervened, with the risk of moving due to the wind. The firefighters cut it into smaller fragments to place it on the ground, with the Local Police in charge of coordinating its removal with the City Council.

On the other hand, in Pedro Barba, in La Graciosa, action was taken at 13:31 hours due to the risk of a lifeguard post sign falling. The personnel proceeded to re-secure it with screws, eliminating the danger.

Likewise, the Consortium reported damage to the structure of the access bridge to the artificial islet of La Garita beach. Given this situation, the entrances were marked to prevent people from passing, with the assessment by the competent technicians pending.
