A man died this past Thursday at Lanzarote Airport after landing on the island from a flight coming from the United Kingdom. The incident occurred in terminal one of the César Manrique aerodrome.

Sources from the Guardia Civil have confirmed to La Voz, that the deceased died of natural causes. While other sources have pointed out that the man suffered a heart attack in the waiting line for non-EU citizens passport control.

It should be noted that Thursdays are the day of the week with the most air traffic congestion in Lanzarote. Dozens of flights disembark on the island that day, a large part of them coming from the United Kingdom.

Since their exit from the European Union and the Schengen Area, travelers from the United Kingdom have to undergo passport control at all Spanish borders. In the case of Lanzarote, it has generated particular controversy due to the long queues that form to be able to stamp entry into the country.

Almost a year ago, also on a Thursday, the simultaneous arrival of seventeen non-EU flights in eighty minutes collapsed Lanzarote Airport and forced passengers to wait in unauthorized areas.
