The First Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will travel to Arrecife next Monday to judge a man for whom the Prosecutor's Office is requesting 20 years in prison for two alleged continued crimes of sexual abuse. The alleged victims were his adopted daughters, who were 8 and 10 years old when the abuse began, which, according to reports, lasted almost until they reached the age of majority.
The Prosecutor's Office's indictment states that the accused, who is now 61 years old, adopted two girls and a boy in 1992. The girls were then 4 and 6 years old. According to the Public Prosecutor, it was in 1996 when he began to abuse them "taking advantage of the mornings, before going to school". "He would get into bed" with the older sister, who was then 10 years old, and "he would caress her genitals, until shortly after the touching became vaginal penetration of the minor almost daily", the prosecutor relates.
The writing maintains that these abuses ended when the young woman, already 17 years old, began to not accede to the wishes of her adoptive father. It also explains that the girl, now 29 years old, currently suffers from a "chronic post-traumatic stress disorder associated with severe depressive symptoms", due to the "multitude of lewd acts in a climate of domination" that she suffered during her childhood.
Regarding her sister, the prosecutor points out that "with the same libidinous purpose", the accused began to abuse her a year later, in 1997, when the little girl was 8 years old. The abuse began "one night when the defendant entered the girls' bedroom" and, while one of them was sleeping, he went to the other and, "telling her that he was not going to scold her for having failed an exam", "sat on the side of the bed, lowered his pants and put the minor's hand on his genitals so that she would masturbate him." She too, who is now 27 years old, suffers from post-traumatic stress. In her case, the alleged abuse ended when she turned the age of majority and left home.
The prosecutor maintains in his writing that the acts of sexual content "were repeated over the years with vaginal penetration and touching of the minor's genitals" and adds that the accused even began with one of the girls and ended with the other, "penetrating both of them in the same act." For all this, he accuses the young women's adoptive father of two continued crimes of sexual abuse and asks for a sentence of 10 years in prison for each of them. He also requests that he compensate each of them with 40,000 euros and that he be prohibited from communicating with or approaching the young women within 500 meters for 15 years.
