The New Hunting Society of Lanzarote and the island delegate of the Canary Islands Hunting Federation have come out to condemn the situation of the dog Tata, repudiating the "savage and despicable treatment" suffered by this female podenco, who was abandoned and found with serious injuries that almost cost her life. "We want to express our strongest rejection and condemnation of actions of abandonment and animal abuse such as those we have seen in the press in recent days", reads the statement from this hunting society, which emphasizes that the person who gave such treatment to the dog "do not represent in any way the feeling of the 1,351 members of this association". The hunters also announce that they will make a donation to The Kennel Club to contribute to the recovery and care of the podenco.

The statement recalls that the Hunting Society has been developing canine exhibitions, vaccination and census campaigns, environmental awareness talks and against animal abuse in collaboration with Seprona, the Cabildo of Lanzarote and the town halls in recent years. The objective of these actions, he adds, is "to try to ensure that events such as those that have occurred these days are not repeated on the island of Lanzarote and do not tarnish the image of the sport of hunting".

In addition, the Society praises the "commendable work carried out by The Kennel Club in the care of Tata". A person took Tata to this association, which since last Thursday has taken charge of this female podenco, taking her to the vet and even starting a fundraising campaign. In this sense, the hunters announce that they will collaborate with the protective association with a donation, "which contributes to the recovery and care of this noble animal".
