The Local Police of Arrecife continues to intensify preventive controls in sensitive areas of the capital of Lanzarote. The mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, the highest authority of the police force, has instructed the agents to intensify preventive controls in certain streets or areas.

This weekend, the Citizen Security and Intervention Unit of the Local Police (USCI) has carried out controls and monitoring in the La Vega area, where local agents recently proceeded to arrest three individuals. The Local Police of Arrecife is patrolling in undercover cars, with police officers in civilian clothes, and with the investigations carried out, special devices are being activated to prevent crime, drug trafficking, and intimidation of citizens by small groups.

This new preventive control in La Vega has been added to others carried out in recent weeks in the area known as Los Pinos Park, in Titerroy, and in nightlife areas of the La Vega neighborhood.

From the Local Police, which has been reinforced in recent months with more agents, new vehicles, electronic devices, and video surveillance cameras, they carry out their preventive interventions with optimal results for the security of Arrecife.

Identification of legal status in Spain

Due to these preventive deployments, which have tripled in this period of mandate with Mayor Yonathan de León, the local agents have identified, investigated, and learned the legal status in Spanish territory of the people who have been monitored and followed through controls.

The Local Police of Arrecife has proceeded in recent months to close several drug dens located in different neighborhoods of the capital of Lanzarote.
