The man arrested in Lanzarote for transporting 400 kilos of cocaine in a light aircraft has been sent to provisional prison after being brought to justice. The arrested man has testified before the Court of First Instance and Investigation Number 5 of Puerto del Rosario, since the aircraft arrived on the island of Majorera and it is there where these proceedings are being instructed.
The judge, who has decreed the secrecy of the proceedings, accuses him of a crime against public health. In addition, the police investigation is still open, as the Civil Guard is looking for at least one other person who was traveling on the plane.
The event took place last Tuesday, March 26, when a light aircraft aroused suspicion when landing in Fuerteventura. At that time the aircraft was seized, but being after 9 p.m., its registration was pending for the next day. Thus, the occupants were identified but not arrested, being transferred to a hotel in Caleta de Fuste. Later, when the agents went to arrest them, they had left. The investigation was able to determine that they rented a private boat, apparently bound for Lanzarote, where the search began since then.
Finally, in the early hours of Friday to Saturday they managed to arrest one person, who is the one who has now been sent to prison, while the investigation continues and while the agents try to locate at least one of his accomplices.
