The couple who suffered a brutal assault in their home in Playa Blanca this Wednesday has had to be transferred to the Doctor Negrín Hospital in Gran Canaria. The severity of the injuries suffered by the two victims of this violent robbery, aged around 63 and 68, has forced them to be evacuated by helicopter to this health center, which has more resources than the Lanzarote hospital.
"They have suffered a brutal beating," a person close to the family told La Voz, who confirmed that the transfer to Gran Canaria took place on Wednesday afternoon. According to the same sources, the couple suffered blows all over their body and especially on the head, which would have caused the most serious injuries. According to sources from the Civil Guard, the diagnosis suffered by the two victims is severe traumatic brain injury.
Meanwhile, the Civil Guard continues to investigate the events, although no arrests have been made so far. This police force believes that the perpetrators could be part of an organized gang dedicated to this type of violent assaults.
It was a domestic worker who found the couple, injured and tied up, early this Wednesday. The woman, Ita Santana, belongs to a well-known family in the municipality. In addition, there is the circumstance that her brother Benjamín died a few years ago in tragic circumstances, after being stabbed in his home in Playa Blanca.
