Agents of the Arrecife Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard proceeded on the 15th to seize 440 kilograms of hashish from a van that was stopped on the LZ-102.

The events occurred on the morning of the aforementioned day, when members of the Arrecife Traffic Detachment patrol observed a vehicle making a U-turn in a prohibited place at kilometer point 0.400 of the LZ-102 road (Arrecife-LZ-101).

After being requested the driver, a 58-year-old Moroccan national who only carried his original Moroccan passport, to show his driver's license, he stated that he did not carry it and that he resided on the island of Fuerteventura, temporarily staying in a friend's house in the municipality of Teguise.

Due to some inconsistencies expressed by the driver regarding the maneuver performed and that he did not have the required documentation to drive vehicles, it was decided to accompany him to the place where he was temporarily staying to verify and check the aforementioned documentation. It was at that precise moment that he left, entering the house - where he was allegedly temporarily residing - and subsequently fleeing.

After thoroughly inspecting the contents of the cargo of the aforementioned vehicle, the acting force noticed the presence of a large quantity of hashish packed in cardboard boxes, proceeding to seize said drug.

The Civil Guard continues with the investigations to locate and arrest the man of Moroccan origin as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health and drug trafficking.
