The Yaiza police arrested an individual, who does not have a driver's license, for leading a chase from Femés to Maciot, in a car that, previously and allegedly, had been stolen, even crashing into a police vehicle.
According to the police, at the time of the arrest, he ingested "a couple of shots" of rum, a circumstance that could be a mitigating factor.
As reported by the Yaiza Local Police, the agents were carrying out a surveillance service in the town of Femés, when they observed B.G.G.H. jumping from a pergola located in a well-known restaurant in the town and subsequently "running away" upon detecting the police presence.
Immediately afterwards, the agents initiated a device to try to locate and identify this subject. After several minutes, the police requested support units to expand surveillance, since there was suspicion that the individual had a vehicle and could flee.
At 05:45 hours, and obeying the instructions of the Head of Service, a surveillance checkpoint was set up in the town of Las Casitas and another at the Maciot roundabout, thus cutting off the two possible exits from the town of Femés.
During the patrol, the agents observed that a vehicle parked behind the church of San Marcial de Rubicón, abruptly began the reverse maneuver, colliding with some stairs accessing the Femés cemetery.
When the agents approached to try to identify the driver, he started forward, ramming the patrol vehicle, causing damage to the front-lateral part. At that moment, a chase began that led those involved towards the LZ-702, in the direction of the town of Maciot.
In the curve known as Las Toscas, the driver of the first vehicle lost control of the car and crashed into a stone located at the edge of the road, becoming immobilized.
While the agents got out of their vehicle, B.G.G.H. "took a bottle of rum that he had on the floor of the vehicle and began to drink, possibly to have a mitigating factor before the arrest." When getting him out of the vehicle, the subject resisted, so he had to be subdued. Likewise, the agents verified that the subject lacked a driver's license, "and that he had never obtained it", as well as that the car showed obvious signs of having been stolen through the use of force.
For all these reasons, the individual was arrested and taken to the Local Police facilities, who immediately transferred him to the Civil Guard.
Arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a sexual abuse crime against a minor
On the other hand, last Wednesday, the Yaiza Local Police opened a proceeding against M.R.P., a native of Barcelona, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of sexual abuse against a minor.
At 18:50 yesterday, the Yaiza Local Police received a call from a well-known hotel in Playa Blanca, reporting the detention of a person - a worker at the hotel establishment - who was wandering through the corridors, chasing a minor client, practicing exhibitionism and using language with high sexual content.
The agents went to the place and identified the perpetrator of the events, and proceeded to his arrest. Next, the individual was transferred to the Local Police facilities, where the pertinent proceedings were opened.
