Maritime Rescue rescued three crew members of a sailboat that had run aground near the port of Arrecife this Thursday night.

The rescue had to be carried out by helicopter, specifically through Helimer 202, as it was "impossible to access them by sea", according to Emerlan, who were also activated at around 22:15 hours.

"The waves of more than 2 meters and the shallows of Punta Lagarta do not allow the rescue to be carried out by sea. That is why the intervention of the helicopter", they pointed out from the NGO on their Facebook. However, during the rescue, both the Emerlan and Maritime Rescue boats remained in the area.

After the rescue, the three crew members of the White Cliffs sailboat, of Dutch nationality, were transferred unharmed to the airport.
