This Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the facilities of the Mémora funeral home was the final farewell to Eynar Esau Mina, one of the soldiers who died during military maneuvers at the Pájara Training and Firing Range last Friday. Eynar Esau Mina Lozano was 25 years old, was born in Colombia and had been living in Arrecife since he was nine years old. He had a girlfriend and a one-year-old girl and had only been in military service for a year.
This Saturday, an emotional act for the fallen and a funeral for the two sappers was held at the Puerto del Rosario barracks. Family members, civil and military authorities attended the tribute to Corporal José Luis León Socorro, 35 years old and from the Escaleritas neighborhood of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and soldier Eynar Esau Mina Lozano. Both belonged to the Sapper Battalion XVI and died last Friday when the BMR (Medium Armored Wheeled) vehicle in which they were traveling with three other colleagues overturned during a Beta-type exercise.
At its conclusion, the coffins with the mortal remains were deposited again by the soldiers in the funeral vehicles, which the relatives accompanied until they left the Puerto del Rosario Barracks. From there they were taken to Fuerteventura Airport to be taken to their places of residence on a military plane. The first stop was in Arrecife (Lanzarote), to leave soldier Mina, where he was given a final farewell.
