The Civil Guard of Lanzarote has arrested four people and investigated two more as alleged perpetrators of a crime of continuing theft and another crime of receiving stolen goods respectively, after allegedly taking from an industrial warehouse in the Playa Honda industrial estate a total of 2,784 barrels of beer and receiving barrels of unknown origin. The total value of the stolen barrels amounts to 174,990 euros.

The Benemérita became aware of the events after the complaints filed by the company itself, noticing at first at the end of October the lack of 1,056 barrels of beer. In November, two more robberies occurred and the complainants stated that the total number of barrels stolen amounted to 2,784.

Therefore, the investigation area of the Main Post of San Bartolomé collected numerous data and statements, obtaining different indications that allowed to specify, identify and locate the origin of the subtraction of the barrels.

After viewing the recordings of the video surveillance cameras provided by the company, observing how the alleged perpetrators load the beer barrels in several large white vans piled up all in an open container outside the warehouse, being the same empty.

Being able to locate numerous stolen beer barrels in two establishments in Arrecife dedicated to the purchase of scrap metal, managing to identify the people who had sold them, being this an employee of the company itself who supplied both full beer barrels, as empty for destruction in scrap yards, using the information to know the status of the barrels, while the other two people, helped the first two to sell these barrels.

The arrests were carried out between the 11th and 13th of November 2024. Thus, the proceedings together with the detainees were handed over to the Courts of San Bartolomé.
