The Citizen Security and Intervention Unit of the Arrecife Local Police arrested a man last Saturday, February 17, who was driving in violation of a sentence and tested positive in the breathalyzer test that was carried out after being arrested by the agents, after having fled, leading to a chase. After his arrest, as confirmed by the Councilor for Police of Arrecife, the Court ordered his imprisonment.
According to the councilor, the USCI agents signaled him to stop in the capital when they saw that he had "jumped a Stop sign" and was driving "in poor condition", whereupon the driver fled, not managing to stop him until near San Bartolomé.
After his arrest, in addition to performing the breathalyzer test, in which, according to David Duarte, he quadrupled the permitted rate, the agents verified that the man had been reported "on five previous occasions" for similar events and that he had a sentence "prohibiting him from driving".
Thus, he was arrested for a crime against road safety "for reckless driving" and for another of breach of sentence, after which he was placed at the disposal of the court, ordering his imprisonment by the Court "within 10 days".
