Agents of the Civil Guard in Tías arrested on June 15 a person with initials K.J.V.O., 21 years old, Spanish nationality and numerous police records for fraud, as the alleged perpetrator of three crimes of fraud and for two judicial requirements.

The Civil Guard initiated an investigation following three complaints, all filed on June 13, 2017, for real estate scams consisting of the fraudulent rental of homes in Puerto del Carmen at affordable prices or below the market average.

According to the Benemérita, those affected had paid between 1,200 and 1,600 euros as a deposit and months in advance, but once they occupied the house, they discovered that the person who had rented it to them was not the owner. The detainee had previously rented them for only a weekend and in this way obtained the keys and access to them, thus deceiving his victims.

He was reported for other cases to the Local Police of Arrecife

In this case, the alleged perpetrator responded to a request that one of the victims had published on an ad website; while the other affected parties were acquaintances of the first, who were interested in whether there were other properties for rent.

The arrested person was located by components of the investigation area who, after an intense search, received a notice that he was in a premises in Playa Honda. Once arrested, the Civil Guard verified that there are other similar complaints against him filed at the National Police Station of Arrecife and that he is wanted by two different courts in Las Palmas.

The detainee has been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number two in functions of Guard of Arrecife.
