A local fisherman has saved a loggerhead sea turtle, also known as Caretta caretta, from certain death. The turtle had become hooked on a fishing hook. Despite the fisherman's efforts to free it, the turtle remained trapped.
Unable to free it, the fisherman made the decision to cut the line and take the turtle ashore. Once ashore, he alerted the authorities to the turtle's situation.
The Environment Agents of the Cabildo responded quickly to the call and went to the scene and guarded the turtle until the arrival of veterinary care.
The veterinarians discovered that the hook was lodged in the turtle's esophagus, so they performed surgery to remove it.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of marine conservation and the need to protect endangered species such as the loggerhead turtle. It also highlights the importance of collaboration between citizens and authorities in protecting our marine wildlife.
