Yaiza has claimed public spaces as meeting places for play and culture through the regional project 'Canarias Islas para Jugar'. An initiative in which the families of Lanzarote shared last Sunday in Uga a free, playful day of artistic expressions.

Boys and girls enjoyed in the Uga tent and its surroundings a large play area with a diversity of proposals created from one hundred percent recyclable material, they also had the opportunity to paint a mural and participate with mothers, fathers and relatives of the musical performance of the group of children and young people from the Arrecife neighborhoods of Altavista and Argana Alta linked to the project 'Barrios Orquestados', the storytelling session of the narrator Vicky Dos Santos and the closing concert of the group Sonambé, all in an intense day from 10.30 to 13.30 hours, which neither the wind nor some raindrops could spoil.

The game as a free activity, without direction and without competition between boys and girls, the game that encourages cooperation and integration between families and that makes community, taking advantage of public spaces that we see every day, places of transit that can be seen with other eyes as scenarios of artistic expressions to give a further boost to music, painting, storytelling, theater or any other creative activity in the midst of the technological avalanche, is the meaning that the municipality of Yaiza wanted to convey with the playful-cultural experience 'Canarias Islas para Jugar', welcomed with "high participation" of families on the island, this is the beginning of the journey through the Canary Islands planned by this project conceived and developed by 'Ocho Pies', an entity specialized in culture for early childhood.

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, thanks "the team of Social Services of the City Council and all the people of Ocho Pies committed to the organization and realization of the meeting because the assessment of families and their desire to repeat summarize the success of the day. Play and culture have to be accessible and public administrations are called to invest more and better in activities that generate concerns and help develop the talent and skills of our younger neighbors".

The Councilor for Social Services of Yaiza, Karina Centeno, highlights "the active participation of families, their manifest interest in playing and cooperating with the little ones and in having fun and learning together leaving aside mobile devices for a few hours. We are very satisfied because teachers, social workers, pedagogues and other professionals who are part of the educational system, as well as the families themselves, convey their desire to participate in new initiatives that mix play and culture".
