The beach and the avenue of Playa Honda were the main protagonists of the eleventh edition of the Mar en Calma Festival, which was held on Saturday "with a resounding success" and a "varied and attractive program" for all audiences, according to the City Council.

The day began at 11:00 a.m. with games, theater, music, humor and much more, all outdoors with the sea in the background. The public enjoyed the performances while bathing, sunbathing or simply sitting on the sand.

The already consolidated municipal summer festival, which this year was held in a single day, brought together a toy library, workshops and a DJ from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At 120 hours, the children's theater show 'Raritos', by Espíritus de Sal, took place, which was presented with a theatrical game that combines comedy, music and puppet theater to transport the public to a magical world of the rare, where the different is a normal condition and a way of feeling and seeing life. The protagonists, two somewhat dazed explorers, told the public about the adventures of the strange beings they encountered in the enchanted forest. T

Great participation in the Float Party

The events continued with the Family Float Party on the beach, with musical accompaniment by a DJ and a contest, which had great participation. The winners took home children's literature books. At 6 p.m., 'La Circoneta' began, by Totó El Payaso. A show full of laughter and good times with the public who enjoyed the essence of the circus of always with the already characteristic contemporary adaptation of Totó.

Late in the afternoon, the public enjoyed the musical show 'Super Grandma', an artistic and educational project focused on families, in which the protagonist, the super grandma, was a great wise woman with super natural and organic powers (the power to create, to love oneself, to empathize, to relax, to concentrate, to enjoy life?). "In reality, we all have those super powers, we just have to train them to develop them," said the super grandma to the attendees, who revealed in the lyrics of her songs "the secrets to cultivate these virtues that we all possess."

The evening continued with the Abubuka Company, which presented the show 'Cuneta Deluxe', with the collaboration of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Government of the Canary Islands. The show was composed of scenes of different kinds that addressed current affairs, the absurd and the profoundly stupid. The company brought out laughter "with filthy skirmishes, cacophonous phonemes and pompous entelechies, without forgetting the music, the fallen angels and the consensual respect in horizontal assembly."

Concerts by Said Muti and La Tralla

At 9 p.m., the concert by Said Muti began, who through his torn voice and his master guitar presented his work 'De tripas rock 'n' roll, an album in which he remakes himself composed of a dozen robust and elegant themes.

The concert by La Tralla put an end to the day. This band, constituted by the elementary trio "guitar-bass-drums" maintains the philosophy that the best songs have already been composed and that "a version has to be that: a version". For this reason, his repertoire focused on the musical legacy of a great variety of artists from his own adaptation. The public had fun and interacted with the members of this group, which is a frequent visitor to different live music venues in the Canary Islands.

The Councilor for Culture of the City Council of San Bartolomé, Alma María González, celebrates the "success" of this festival for another year, in which "all audiences have been able to enjoy one of the jewels we have in the municipality, the avenue and beach of Playa Honda, the outdoors, the sun, all united by culture in its different variants." For her part, the mayor, María Dolores Corujo, congratulates the organization "for the success of Mar en Calma in this edition", a festival that "without a doubt" is a "cultural reference of the summer and an island meeting point."
