The 5th Playa Blanca Short Story Contest enters its final stretch

In just 15 days, the deadline for the fifth edition of the Playa Blanca Short Story Contest ends. The contest, which aims to promote creative literature, is convened by the Castillo del Águila Cultural Association, as part of the celebration of International Book Day, on April 23.

On this occasion, also commemorating the fifth anniversary of the inauguration of the Municipal Library of Playa Blanca, the contest "winks at these magical places full of meaning for all lovers of reading and writing", according to the association. Thus, they stipulate in their rules the need to include in the narration some element that refers to the concept of "library".

Aimed at residents of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the contest includes the categories of children (from 4th to 6th grade of Primary), youth (ESO and Bachillerato) and adults (over 18 years). The deadline for submitting stories is Friday, April 14. The submission will be through a text file attached to an email sent to the address: [email protected].

The jury's decision will be known coinciding with the Book Fair

The author of the best story in the adult category will be presented with a gift voucher worth 300 euros from the Rubicón Shop & Fun Shopping Center and two nights at the Hesperia Playa Dorada Hotel on a half-board basis. For its part, the winner of the youth category will receive a gift voucher worth 250 euros from Tiendas Electron as a prize; while in the children's category the winner will be awarded an annual pass for Aqualava Water Park and an adventure video camera, courtesy of Bricej.

The jury that will evaluate the stories is made up of "relevant writers in the national scene and members of the educational and cultural community of the south of the Island", according to the Cultural Association. The list of winners will be announced throughout the morning of Sunday, April 23.

In order for the works to meet the requirements and be able to enter the contest, the organization reminds citizens that they can consult the legal bases on the website of the Municipal Library of Playa Blanca (http://bibliotecaplayablanca.blogspot.com.es/2017/01/la-asociacion-cultural-castillo-del.html).
