With the performance of the 'Rancho de Pascua Archinech' from Tinajo, the Torrelavega Society closed the program dedicated to the 'Canto a la Navidad' (Song to Christmas). The closing took place on Wednesday night and, as usual, with the allowed capacity full.
For this occasion, they had the 'Rancho de Pascua Archinech' from Tinajo, who were performing for the first time in Torrelavega, following the protocol established each time they perform in churches and societies. They began their performance with the lights off, performing 'El Corrido', where the lead singer described some biblical passages and then the rest of the members responded.
Afterwards, they stood on the stage where they performed their entire repertoire, songs like: 'El niño que está en la Cuna' (The Child in the Cradle), 'Los pastores en Belén' (The Shepherds in Bethlehem), 'El Divino' (The Divine One), where their powerful and tuned voices did not need electronic equipment, completely filling the social hall.
The members of the 'Rancho de Pascua Archinech', with an impeccable staging, managed to make their musical instruments, old percussion elements such as: swords, tambourines, rattles, jawbone, castanets, with other more modern stringed instruments such as: bandurrias, lutes, guitars or timples, an impeccable staging, also adding a costume consisting of trousers, jacket, white shirt and sash with leather boots inspired by the Lanzarote peasant.
The board of directors of the Torrelavega Society was profuse in words of gratitude for having accepted the invitation, being pleasantly surprised by the magnificent performance that for the first time was part of the 'Canto a la Navidad' program. For this reason, the vice president Luis González Afonso presented him with a plaque with the society's shield printed on it, a work by the Lanzarote artist César Manrique.
Just when they were about to finish their performance, the public stood up and asked them to continue, at which point they responded by giving them the song 'Santo Domingo'. This was the end of a day with a Christmas atmosphere that will give way to the group's performance on December 30 at the Cathedral of Santa Ana in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
