Arrecife, celebrated the Drag Queen Gala last night within the program of events of the Arrecife 2023 Carnival, which turned out to be a spectacular night of parade and entertainment despite the reduction in capacity due to the closure of the stands after the accident that took place the night before the end of the third phase of the murgas contest.

The gala was a great spectacle that demonstrated the talent and creativity of the twelve participants who created a night full of lights, emotion and color, in a festive and vibrant atmosphere that could be felt, becoming a unique and special event, presented, in addition, by a classic of these events such as Roberto Herrera, who enlivened the evening with his talent and sense of humor, showing off his musical talent and a great complicity with the drags and the public.

The gala began with music to the rhythm of "Resistiré" and "Negra tiene tumbao" popularized by the great Celia Cruz, muse of the Arrecife 2023 Carnival and Gisela González, who also paid tribute to the eternal Cuban. The fantastic musical entrance was accompanied by the choreographies of dancers of different ages, from the youngest to the oldest, from the Antonio School, whose members delighted the public with a colorful choreography before starting the presentation of the participants in which the drags showed off their impressive costumes and make-up in a creative and colorful way that captivated the public from the first moment.

The protagonists of the night paraded on stage with a great variety of styles, from the most exotic to the most elegant designs. Each of them demonstrated their creativity and ability to transform into a completely different character.

Although there was no jury, all the participants received the affection and great ovation from the public, who enjoyed a night full of color, music and fun, being able to celebrate the great success of the gala together.

The first drag to appear on stage was Drag Umbra, with her fantasy "Memory of a gay, sorry I meant geisha", designed by Mari Millares and Alexander Sánchez, who impressed the public with her spectacular costume and staging.

The night continued with the performances of the Lanzarote drag Avalon, who wore a design called "Ay comadre, you're going to have a scary time", by Dani Viera and Oswaldo Cabrera, who had the support of the dancers Oswaldo Lanza, who will be an option to represent Arrecife in the Drag Queen Gala of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the pre-selection that will take place soon.

Later, it was Drag Morgana's turn with her fantasy "Hold on to what makes you different" which, after her brilliant performance, gave way to Drag Asiria, from Fuerteventura, with the fantasy "Who doesn't like a good broom", designed by Rocío Álvarez and Cinthia González and the choreography by René García.

In fifth place, Drag Enea made her appearance on stage wearing the fantasy "Contemplate me and idolize me" designed by Yeremay Hidalgo and Kilian Betancort and presented a performance accompanied by dancers.

The public also enjoyed the performance of Foguen, with his fantasy "It's been a while", who raised the energy to the highest level with his show.

At this point, there was a pause in the parade to enjoy the musical performance of MelÖmana. The Canary artist of trap and hip hop/rap, with Latin influences obtained from Cuba and the Canary Islands, demonstrated why she is considered one of the most important Canary artists of the moment, carrying in her lyrics messages of great power, talking about love, freedom and equality, giving voice to the rights of women and their empowerment.
