Next Saturday, October 14th at 4:00 p.m., the second edition of the descent from the Risco de Famara will take place. This event, which originated in 2022, aims to transmit to society one of the most characteristic traditions of the eighth island's ancestors and to unite with Lanzarote through the Risco; in order to satisfy the needs that could not be met in La Graciosa.

To make this event as similar as possible to the characteristics of the Graciosan identity, the descent will be made in traditional clothing, and upon arrival at Bajo El Risco beach, the Latin sailing boats will be waiting to cross to La Graciosa: El Graciosero, Villa de Teguise, and Volcán de la Corona. Once in Caleta del Sebo, at approximately 6:00 p.m., they will be greeted by a parranda (traditional Canarian music group) and will perform a small pilgrimage through the streets of the town. The route will end in the Plaza del Cactus with the testimony of the elderly women who used to descend in the past, a popular meal, and a lively dance.

To ensure that the day can be enjoyed in the best possible way, the company Líneas Marítimas Romero will offer a boat service to watch the arrival under the Risco, as well as a special service from La Graciosa to Órzola after the closing at midnight. Those who cannot travel can follow it live from El Risco beach via Facebook.

In addition to the traditional event, in collaboration with the Insular Federation of Latin Sailing Boats, on the morning of Saturday, October 14th, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., there will be a sea baptism in 8.55-meter boats in the port of Caleta del Sebo for anyone who wants to enjoy one of the most traditional sports in the Canary Islands. Also, the association 'Culdecase' will hold an open day of pipiolas (traditional Canarian dolls) for children on Thursday and Friday afternoons from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The association's board wants to "publicly thank" the collaboration of institutions, as well as federations and private companies for the development of this event. They also emphasize the importance of those who want to be part of this event and accompany them doing so in traditional clothing.
