The Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz hosts the concerts 'Music and Literature' and 'Between Notes and Words'

The first one will be held this Friday afternoon around 8:00 p.m. and the second one will be presented to the public on Saturday afternoon, starting at 7:00 p.m.

MISSING PHOTO The Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz hosts this weekend two new concerts scheduled in the agenda of activities of Cultura Arrecife.

The first of them will take place this Friday from 8:00 p.m. with the fifth and last session of the 'VIII Cycle of Classical Concerts Arrecife 2024. Music and Literature', organized by the Asociación Orquesta Clásica de Lanzarote (OCL). A show that will feature David Ballesteros on violin, Andrea Chico on clarinet and Luis López on piano, who will perform works by Igor Stravinsky, Astor Piazzola, Federico Mompou, Arvo Pärt, Manuel de Falla, Johann Sebastian Bach, Luciano Berio, Celia Rivero and Darius Milhaud.

The introduction will be given by a representative of the Asociación Escritores de Lanzarote. This concert should have been held on March 22, but was postponed due to the weather alert decreed on that date.

This Saturday, the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz in Arrecife will be the stage from 7:00 p.m. for the third session of the concert series 'Between Notes and Words', directed by the Lanzarote tenor Pancho Corujo and which on this occasion presents 'Psicópera', a lyrical-theatrical idea conceived by the baritone and stage director Antonio Torres together with the pianist Ricardo Francia, in which they propose a journey between anguish and terror towards an unexpected ending at the hands of the "great villains of opera": Don Giovanni, Jago, Rigoletto or Scarpia.

'Culture and Roots'

On the other hand, this Saturday at noon La Recova Municipal hosts 'Culture and Roots' event to contribute to the preservation of the traditional Canarian culture, including talks and musical performances. The session on Saturday is entitled 'Canarian folklore: cultural treasure for all ages', with the participation of the speakers Silvia Sánchez (El Hierro), Aga Umpiérrez (Fuerteventura), Candy Martín (Tenerife) and Almudena Hernández (La Graciosa). The musical section will be performed by the Lanzarote natives Jose Vicente Pérez and Adrián Niz, as well as Almudena Hernández from La Graciosa.
