The José Saramago Room of the César Manrique Foundation, located in La Plazuela de Arrecife, will host next Monday, June 17, the conference entitled 'Weaving the city', which will be given by Carme Pinós and will start at 7:00 p.m.
The intervention is included in the conference cycle 'César Manrique and his contexts', which began with the conference by Juan Vicente Aliaga and will also feature the presence of Simón Marchán, Estrella de Diego, Patricia Molins and José Luis de la Nuez Santana. This activity is part of the centenary of the birth of César Manrique that the institution that bears his name will celebrate until April 24, 2020.
According to the FCM, Carme Pinós will address in her conference the long process of urban transformation of Plaza de la Gardunya, located in the historic center of Barcelona, after the new headquarters of the Escola Massana was inaugurated in September 2017. Pinós will comment on how the project tries to sew up the hole behind the Mercado de la Boqueria, a space that has been unresolved for decades.
She will also present the MPavilion project, for which each year an international architect is commissioned to design a pavilion located in Queen Victoria Gardens in Melbourne. In 2018 it was Carme Pinós's turn. The space, designed for the spring and summer months, hosts an extensive program of cultural events during this period.
