More than 800 students from courses between 3rd of ESO and 2nd of Bachillerato from 10 educational centers on the island met last Wednesday at the Víctor Fernández Gopar Theater "El Salinero" to witness the play "Underground Seagulls." The staging of this piece was developed by the Lanzarote company Comi - k Teatro.

The play, which was written by the playwright Alfonso Vallejo, tells the story of Nino Carpio, an employee of a life insurance company who turns to Mario, his childhood friend, to help him get the 80 million of his insurance. However, Nino has hatched the whole plot to get it. Thus, the play revolves around truth and lies, what is lawful and unlawful, or what is fair or unfair that can be to pursue social goals, even deceiving a friend or brother to achieve them.

With the performance of "Underground Seagulls", the company Comi-k Teatro managed to win the Public Sauce and the Golden Sauce at the XI National Amateur Theater Festival Villa de El Sauzal 2015, as well as the "Tana López Peñalver" Award for Best Interpretation.

This project is part of the program of activities that the Education area of the Cabildo of Lanzarote offers to schools and institutes.

"We continue to develop activities that serve to complement the training of students as well as to bring the performing arts closer to students and enrich them culturally," says the Councilor for Education of the island corporation, Myriam Barros.
