The Arrecife City Council presented this Wednesday morning the program of the Navilan Fair, which will open its doors this Saturday, December 14 and until January 5. The space is located in the area near the Charco de San Ginés, next to the area known as the Ginory esplanade.

The Christmas fair will be free and will offer a wide program of activities. In the presentation to the media, held under the Christmas tree located next to the José Ramírez Cerdá Park, were present the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, the vice president of the Cabildo, Jacobo Medina, the councilor of Commerce and Tourism, Eli Merino, the councilor of Youth and Commerce, Aroa Ravelo, the general director of Youth of the Government of the Canary Islands, Daniel Morales, and the director of Navilan, Yurena Martín Torres.

Yonathan de León has detailed that "the success achieved with Navilan during the past year, as a result of the impulse of the Municipal Government group, has been replicated by other cities in the Canary Islands, taking Arrecife as a good example." For the capital's mayor, "investing in revitalization is supporting employment, commerce, leisure and hospitality, among other sectors that benefit from the large number of people who visit our city on these dates, attracted by the Christmas atmosphere and the Navilan fair, which this year is launching many new features."

The first mayor of Arrecife encouraged families to walk, have fun, consume in local businesses, and experience the Christmas joy without having to leave Lanzarote. "With Navilan, we make Christmas live in Arrecife, throughout the island," emphasized the mayor.

The vice president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, assured that this fair "is a major attraction for both residents and those who visit us."

"In the first edition, the potential and importance of the capital hosting an event of this type was already demonstrated, and now, in this second edition, a step further is taken and we can enjoy one of the best Christmas fairs in Spain," said the vice president, who thanked "the collaboration between public-private administrations, as well as the involvement of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers led by my colleague Ángel Vázquez and the revitalization of the Arrecife City Council so that Navilan is a reality."

Agreements with tour operators to visit Navilan

For her part, the Councilor for Commerce and Tourism, Eli Merino, whose department sponsors Navilan, stated that this year agreements have been closed with tour operators and travel agencies so that tourists, both those who stay on the island and those who arrive on cruises, come to the fair through tourist packages combining excursions in the city, with a visit to the fair, where we concentrate the artisan market and offer good gastronomic proposals."

Eli Merino remarked that "these agreements with tour operators will allow many more tourists to come to our city during these Christmas holidays, thus generating synergies for merchants and hotel establishments."

On behalf of the Government of the Canary Islands, an institution that supports Navilan together with the Arrecife City Council and the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the general director of Youth, Daniel Morales, spoke, highlighting that "we are committed to events that have an impact on the Canary Islands Youth. Therefore, all young people between 12 and 30 years old who are users of the youth card will have a discount on the attractions. In addition, we promote youth employment with the direct hiring of more than 60 young people."

The director of Navilan, Yurena Martín Torres, on behalf of the group that carries out all the organization and production, reported that the fair has free access where animations and shows for all audiences will be offered every day, and the attractions, such as the great Ferris wheel or the ice rink, have affordable prices.
