With the first light of dawn, the ringing of the bells announced to the people of Arrecife that the big day of the festivities in honor of the Patron Saint San Ginés Obispo had arrived. The temple showed off its best finery with a very careful floral ornamentation by the neighbor Francisco Hernández and family, the three naves of the temple crowded by the parishioners and the most hungover in the vicinity of the church square.

At 12 noon the Solemn Eucharist began, presided over by the parish priest of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina Medina and concelebrated by 8 fellow priests from other parishes, the deacon Alejandro Carmona, 2 young acolyte seminarians and altar boys.

For Juan Carlos this was the first Eucharist he celebrated on the feast of San Ginés after arriving as parish priest in September of last year and also coinciding with the "225th Anniversary" of the Parish and Municipality created on June 25, 1798. The songs were enlivened by the "Parish Choir", directed by the professor, José Juan López Umpierrez.

The Homily was preached by Deacon Alejandro Carmona, highlighting the commitment of San Ginés to carry the message of Jesus, evangelizing and helping those most in need. A few minutes before the end of the Eucharist, the Hymn to San Ginés was sung, a composition by Carmen Siverio Pérez Achad from Tenerife, a gift made in 1992 to the musical group Alborada Encarnación Rodríguez.

Then the procession proceeded through the main streets of the city of Arrecife, headed by the Banda de Música la Unión de Lanzarote, directed by Professor Pepe Artiles, followed by the image of San Ginés, the Clergy, civil and military authorities and parishioners.

Upon returning with the image of San Ginés next to the portico of the church, the Music Band performed a procession composition that was highly applauded by those present. With the ringing of the bells and the cheers to the Patron Saint San Ginés, the end was put to a very special day that will become part of the history of Arrecife.
