The Torrelavega Culture, Recreation and Sports Society has launched the cultural agenda for this year 2024. The first of the events took place on Thursday night with the concert by the Acatife Popular Music Group, which completely filled the allowed capacity with members and the public. For Acatife, it was their first performance after a short break with the events carried out on the occasion of their '40th Anniversary'.

A hectic year with the recording of their latest album 'Lanzarote, my town and César', recorded live in the Auditorium of Los Jameos del Agua, which has been a challenge that they have more than overcome. With the fourteen songs of their own creation, which include the one that gives the album its title 'My town and César', a composition by the writer and poet from Lanzarote, Jaime Quesada. An album that was presented at the island theater 'Víctor Fernández Gopar- El Salinero' last summer, when they were fully preparing the edition of what would be their XXIX festival, framed in the patron saint festivities of Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Teguise.

To put the finishing touch with the show 'Echoes of Women', held in the auditorium of Jameos del Agua and with the collaboration of 15 women from Lanzarote, with extraordinary voices, getting the public to stand up and reward their performances with resounding applause. In the concert held at the Torrelavega Society for 90 minutes, Acatife performed some of the songs recorded on their latest album, interspersing them with others from their first recordings. Over the years they have become soundtracks that must be dusted off from time to time so that they are not forgotten.

In this concert, the new musical director was presented, the young Alejandro Machín Betancort, replacing the founding member Ito Hernández, who has made himself available to Alejandro and thus, has been able to carry out the work related to the musical arrangements. In addition, the voices were directed by Professor José Antonio Elías Roldán, all under the presidency of Carlos Hernández. At the end of the concert, Acatife presented the president of the Torrelavega Society, Toñin Ramos, with a large painting with the group's photo and the vice president Luis González, presented them with the Heraldic Shield of the society, in a design by César Manrique. The concert ended with the song 'Por Bandera'.
