The Acatife Cultural Association celebrated its XXX festival on Friday night, on the occasion of the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen in Teguise, in the municipal tent with full capacity.
After a hectic year motivated by the celebration of the 40th anniversary, the great Acatife family once again pleased its followers who answered the call, filling the municipal tent to enjoy the night. In this celebration, Acatife gave it all on stage, choosing a very varied repertoire of songs. Some of them recorded on their albums and others that they presented for the first time.
Acatife began the festival with the Isa de Carmita, continuing with Folias, Seguidillas, Popurrí de Boleros and the newly created Identidad y Veredas de Romería.
The group was very supported throughout the festival, but without a doubt one of the moments where the public could not contain their emotion was when they performed the song Cruz de Mar. No matter how many years have passed, Lanzarote does not forget and responded with the loudest applause of the entire festival. Standing up, they said goodbye to the Acatife family on a very special night as a brioche to their 40th anniversary.
For this XXX edition, Acatife had luxury guests, who came from the island of La Palma and also celebrated their 50th anniversary. An entire institution, Taburiente conquered the public, together they sang and applauded some of the songs that already form part of the musical history of the palmera formation.
Taburiente is part of traditional Canarian music to reach, at first, a more folk music, although throughout its 50 years they have reached other styles such as jazz, pop and rock. Regardless of the musical style in which you want to pigeonhole it, you have to recognize its own style, motivated by its music and arrangements and, of course, by the personal voice of Luis Morera who, together with his colleagues, have made Taburiente be recognized worldwide.
Another of the endearing moments of the night in which the public was very attentive came with the screening of the video in which a very important part of the trajectory carried out by the family of the Agrupación Folclórica Guanapay during 70 years was collected.
Alfredo Cabrera, founding member of Acatife, was narrating in great detail each of those moments, ending with the proclamation of the Volcán de Plata 2024, the highest award granted by the Acatife Cultural Association to cultural groups and people committed to Canarian culture and traditions.
Carlos Hernández, president of Acatife, presented the Volcán de Plata 2024 to Miguel Ángel Bermúdez, president of Guanapay, and Isidro Callero, the member with the longest history in the group. One more year, the Acatife family gave it all, pleasing their followers who rewarded their work with their applause.
