The Justice orders Arrecife to give credentials to a protector to be able to feed the street cats

It has approved precautionary measures, upholding the request of the association 7 días por 7 vidas (7 days for 7 lives). The ruling emphasizes that this is the third similar request that has been presented in Lanzarote.

The Contentious-Administrative Court Number 4 of Las Palmas has ordered the Arrecife City Council to provide credentials to the animal protection association 7 días por 7 vidas so that it can feed the cats that live on the streets of the capital while the state of alarm lasts.

In a ruling dated this Thursday, the Court upholds the request submitted by the protector, which requested that this measure be adopted in light of the "presumed rejection" by the City Council, to whom they addressed on April 1, requesting that they be given credentials and that an agreement be signed to feed the feline colony of Arrecife.

In its resolution, the Court indicates that it adopts this precautionary measure "with a very provisional and urgent nature", given the circumstances of the case, without waiting to know the City Council's version. Thus, in the same resolution, it agrees to transfer its content to the City Council so that it can pronounce, although in the meantime it orders to adopt this precautionary measure, ordering it to deliver those credentials to the association.

Another ruling sided with them against San Bartolomé

The ruling emphasizes that this is the third precautionary measure that is urged in Lanzarote in similar terms, and all of them have been resolved favorably for the applicants. One of them was also presented by the association 7 días por 7 vidas, as explained by the collective itself.

"Last April 8, this same Court gave us an urgent precautionary measure that allowed us to feed the cats of the municipality of San Bartolome after the refusal of the City Council. This time the Court gives us a precautionary measure that also allows us to continue feeding the cat colonies of the Municipality of Arrecife", they explain from the protector.

"We are very happy for the animals, despite having to go through this ordeal of having to go to court to ask for what the city councils should facilitate us", they question. In addition, they wanted to publicly thank their lawyer, Maite Bautista, as well as María Girona and the Prota Association, of Animalist Lawyers in the Canary Islands.
