The General Directorate of Youth of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Children and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands, has announced the renewal of the agreement with the airline 'Iberia Líneas Aéreas' of Spain through which discounts will be reissued on up to two flights for those who have a valid Youth Card.
The General Director of Youth, Daniel Morales, explains that "this agreement, which was signed for the first time at the end of last year, was a great success, more than 2,000 girls and boys who had the Youth Card were able to fly with an additional discount to the residence discount of 10% on each journey." "Having the card entails many advantages, discounts in a multitude of establishments, services, cultural visits, and now also in the Canary Islands, with this new agreement that we are reissuing this year, it will make the mobility of our youth easier, something that in our islands is vital not only for leisure, but also for studies or work."
Following the signing of this agreement, those with the Youth Card will be able to benefit from an additional 10% discount on up to two tickets purchased on the iberia.es website until the end of August this year.
Up to two codes per young person can be requested and will be done in the same way as during 2023, by sending an email to [email protected], indicating 'Iberia Code' in the subject and including in the text of the message their full name, ID number and the EYCA number shown on their card. Within an average of seven days you will receive your code, which you can use until August 31, 2024 on the Iberia website, and with flights operated by 'Iberia', 'Iberia Express' and 'Air Nostrum'. Those who have previous unused codes can request new ones, given that the count for each card is reset to 0.
The 'European Youth Card' program is managed through the 'Canarian Youth Foundation IDEO', attached to the Ministry, and facilitates discounts on the purchase of various products, services, allows more economical access to cultural, social goods and also facilitates mobility and intercommunication. Young people from 12 years old can obtain it and the discounts are valid from the issuance of the card and until they turn 31 years old.
