Sharp drop in passenger traffic in the port of Arrecife in June, with a decrease of 25.29%.

The most pronounced decrease has been in the number of tourist cruise passengers, which fell by 48%, but exceeds the figures for previous years.

Passenger traffic in the port of Arrecife has experienced a sharp decrease in the month of June, with 15,550 passengers, compared to 20,815 in May, a 25.29% decrease, according to a report by the Port Authority of Las Palmas, collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.

Specifically, of the total, 9,264 were passengers from boats, 6,286 tourists and 4,532 automobiles. It should be noted that the number of tourist cruise passengers has been the one that has had the most pronounced drop, of 48% in the sixth month of the year, since in May 12,100 passengers arrived, practically double. In year-on-year terms, it also decreased by 16.5%, since in June 2021 7,526 cruise passengers arrived.

It is important to mention that passenger traffic tends to always fall in the months of May and June, as it is in a limbo between the Easter holidays and the beginning of the high summer season, although the peak season for cruises is always in the winter months. In any case, June has managed to register higher figures than in previous years.

The accumulated between January and June has been 138,262 travelers, compared to 38,340 from January to June last year, 260.6% higher.

 

Ships decrease, but merchandise traffic increases

In that line of decrease are also the ships and the goods transported by these ships, registering a total of 127 ships, 16 less than in May and 1,612,824 tons, compared to 2,112,533 the previous month.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the deck is merchandise traffic, which has managed to exceed the figures for May with 144,321 tons, almost 20,000 more. Of the total, 112,833 were unloaded in Lanzarote, 31,360 loaded and 128 in transit.

In addition, 758 tons of frozen fish and 116 of fresh fish were transported.
