Record number of arrivals at Lanzarote airport in November

In November 2022, more tourists arrived at César Manrique than in any November of the last two decades.

In November of this year, 632,229 tourists arrived at César Manrique Airport, a record number of air arrivals in a November on the island.

No previous year had recorded a higher number of arrivals in a November. At least since 2006, the first year in which the Data Center of Lanzarote offered the total number of monthly arrivals to the César Manrique Airport. That year, 448,399 people arrived in November.

To give an idea of the magnitude, the arrivals this November by air to the island were 11.2% more than those recorded in the same month of 2019.

Lanzarote airport is experiencing the largest growth in November among the major Canary Islands airports, as Gran Canaria airport only increased its traffic compared to November 2019 by 0.6%, with 1,197,740 arrivals recorded in Las Palmas.

In Tenerife South, the increase was 8.3%, with a total of 1,063,065 tourists. Fuerteventura airport, on the other hand, experienced an increase of 6.3%, with a total of 493,619 arrivals.

The Canary Islands airports as a whole closed the month of November with an increase of 4.5% in passenger traffic, compared to the same month of 2019. There were just over 4 million travelers throughout the archipelago.
Of the total passengers on commercial flights, 3,958,171, correspond to national traffic 1,490,652 tourists, 4.7% more than in the same month of 2019, and 2,467,519 to international traffic, 3.5% more.
 

Air traffic falls in La Palma and El Hierro

Among the airports with less traffic, Tenerife North, with 469,801 arrivals, achieves the same results as in November 2019. At La Palma airport, there was an 8% drop in the number of passengers. There were 114,174 people. At El Hierro airport, there was also a slight decrease of 0.1% and 23,175 passengers. 7,830 tourists arrived in La Gomera by air, which represents a growth of 61.1% compared to November 2019.

Regarding the number of operations in all the Canary Islands airports, in November there were 36,779 movements, which is 7.1% more operations recorded than in the same month of 2019.

As for the traffic of goods, 2,667 tons were transported, a figure that represents a recovery of 86.5% compared to the same month of the year 2019.

 

Results so far this year

Until the penultimate month of the year, the number of passengers registered in the Canary Islands airports amounts to 39,322,841, with a recovery of 95.6% compared to the same period of 2019, prior to the pandemic. Of the total
of commercial passengers (38,950,522), 16,313,782 correspond to national flights, which represents a recovery of 97.6% taking into account the same months of 2019; and 22,636,740 to international flights, a
93.8% recovery over the figures in the same period of 2019.

The number of movements registered between January and November 2022 was 368,020, with a recovery of 98.1% compared to the same period of the year 2019, and the cargo traffic recorded so far is
of 28,393 tons, which represents a recovery of 84.6% of the figures compared to the accumulated of the year 2019 mentioned.
