Lanzarote, the Canary Island with the highest hotel occupancy during 2022

The archipelago as a whole more than doubled the number of overnight stays in 2022 compared to the previous year

Lanzarote recorded the highest degree of occupancy in its tourist accommodations during 2022 of the entire archipelago with 79.7%, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics.

In the whole of the Canary Islands, hotels, apartments, campsites, rural tourism accommodation and hostels closed 2022 with 89.4 million overnight stays, 112.9% more than those recorded in 2011, which made this destination the preferred one for residents and non-residents in all categories.

Canary Islands was the preferred destination in apartments, with more than 24.2 million overnight stays, 112.0% more than in 2021, and after the Community of Madrid, it presented the second highest degree of average occupancy per apartment, with 70.8%.

In December 2022, the Canary Islands was also the preferred destination in all collective tourist accommodations, with 7.8 million overnight stays (26.4% more than in December 2021).

The archipelago was the leader in apartments, with more than 2.1 million overnight stays, 23.3% compared to December 2021, and the highest occupancy: 78% of the apartments offered.

In rural tourism accommodation, the Canary Islands reached the highest degree of occupancy, with 36.4% of the places offered.
