27.2% of homes sold in the third quarter of the year in the Canary Islands were acquired by foreigners, according to the latest report from the Association of Registrars.
The percentage is almost one and a half points lower than last year when it reached 28.6% and nearly 3 and a half points lower than that reached in 2022 when it marked 30.60%.
However, the proportion remains one of the highest in the country. The Canary Islands is the third autonomous community with the highest percentage of acquisitions by foreigners. Behind Balearic Islands (32.50%) and Valencian Community (28.45%).

After the Canary Islands, Murcia (24.68%) and Catalonia (16.79%) are listed. These are followed, in descending order, by Andalusia (14.31%), Madrid (7.70%), Aragon (7.64%), La Rioja (5.90%), Asturias (5.84%), Castilla La-Mancha (5.52%), Navarra (4.70%), Basque Country (3.80%), Castilla y León (3.63%), Cantabria (3.62%), Galicia (2.24%) and Extremadura (1.66%).
Nationally, the weight of foreigners on total sales represented 14.85% in the third quarter of 2024, or what is the same, 4 points more than three years ago (10.77% in 3Q of 2021).
In the Canary Islands, Italians, British and Germans acquire the most homes, while at the national level Moroccans and Poles are also very relevant.
