The Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society (SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote) and the Official Association of Tourism Professionals in the Canary Islands (Copturismo) signed a collaboration agreement last Friday during an event held at the Castillo de San José, which also served as recognition by the island's promotion entity to the aforementioned public law entity, created by mandate of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary.

Signed by the Island Councillor for Tourism Promotion, Ángel Vázquez, and the Dean and President of the Association, Daniel Celis, the agreement aims to "strengthen the ties between both entities by establishing different lines of collaboration, such as promoting study and research, incorporating Copturismo's professionals and experts, as an advisory body, into the debate and promotional strategy, which will contribute to qualifying the decisions and projects adopted by Turismo Lanzarote."

In this sense, and after congratulating the Official Association of Tourism Professionals in the Canary Islands for its 25 years of "successful trajectory", Ángel Vázquez indicated that "the Official Association of Tourism Professionals is a reference and a very important actor for its contribution to the tourist excellence of the Archipelago, so its work is totally in line with the destination qualification strategy that we have set within the Lanzarote Premium Project, with the aim of positioning Lanzarote as a prestigious, exclusive and differentiated destination, attractive for a high-end tourist, who demands select experiences and who is increasingly demanding with sustainability."

Therefore, the councillor added that "the more qualified agents intervene, contributing knowledge and plurality, in Lanzarote's tourism strategy, it is a fact that can only have positive effects, and even more so within the highly complex tourism context we are experiencing."

Also, during the event, Copturismo showed a video collecting the main initiatives and activities developed by this entity throughout its 25 years of trajectory. In addition, the platform "UNPROTUR- Union of Tourism Professionals of the Canary Islands" was presented, and the edition of two books, "25 years and 25 voices" and "8 Islands, 8 Treasures", made on the occasion of its anniversary, was announced.
