The Plenary of the Tías City Council ratified and unanimously approved this Monday the content of the urban planning agreement for the implementation of the large Lidl commercial area in Puerto del Carmen. The multinational registered in spring a request for the construction and opening of a facility in this tourist town.

All the forces present in the Plenary, that is, PP, San Borondón, CC and PSOE, gave the green light to this agreement, signed in May by the mayor, Pancho Hernández, and representatives of the company that owns the urban land, in an area near the Puerto del Carmen Institute and the new bus station.

Through this agreement, the Tías City Council receives as a free transfer an urban plot of 3,129.49 square meters in this area, which will be used for a park and green area. This large area will be built on an urban plot of 5,195 square meters in the accesses to Puerto del Carmen, on Juan Carlos I Avenue, and is integrated into one of the 20 actions approved in the second Modernization and Improvement Plan of Puerto del Carmen, approved by the Government in the Canary Islands at the end of last December and in force last January.

This center will have an underground parking lot, and another on the surface. The report contemplates about 110 parking spaces. During the plenary session, the spokesperson for the PP and Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Urban Planning, Saray Rodríguez, pointed out that the firm that owns these plots has already transferred before a notary the land where this new park and green area is planned to be built.

Among the urban planning issues approved last night, all political forces also gave the green light to another agreement with the company that owns the Balcón del Mar complex, which is being rehabilitated within the Modernization Plan of Puerto del Carmen. This entity freely transfers land on Reina Sofía Avenue where an eco-boulevard is planned, which is underway within the Municipal Works Plan of the Tías City Council.
