The taxi sector criticizes the "abandonment" by the Teguise City Council, "we can't take it anymore, we are tired of years and years of trying to get this City Council to give us solutions to essential needs to improve the service and the proper functioning of this means of transport, and despite the importance it has for the image of the municipality, since it moves a large part of the tourism that stays in Costa Teguise, we have not obtained answers or solutions."
They announce that next Wednesday, September 27, as a sign of protest, they will interrupt most of the services to concentrate in front of the City Council.
In a press release, they point out that "we make many efforts on a daily basis and with great commitment to offer the best to our clients, but yes, without the support and involvement as it corresponds to the Teguise City Council, and therefore we are forced to disclose this situation, hoping that there will be willingness and resolution capacity as soon as possible."
From the sector they add that "this has been going on for a long time, it is not from now, and that is why we demand immediate solutions and coherence. If we dedicate ourselves to tourism, and offer quality, we will have to prioritize and improve what is necessary, and not reach the abandonment and neglect in which we find ourselves." "It cannot be that we are working more than twelve hours a day with limitations that affect customers, and seeing how the image we project of our municipality is one of neglect and lack of respect for the environment, which is supposed to be a Biosphere Reserve," they say.
Among the necessary improvements for the sector are the "state of the stops, which need cleaning, maintenance, signage and modernization." "We also refer to the imperative need to put a loading area in the Pueblo Marinero for the safety of customers."
In addition, they demand the "update of urban rates, which remain frozen for years and years, and that right now we are the only municipality that has not yet updated in this aspect, so necessary for the fulfillment and guarantee of welfare and quality of our sector on which families and families depend."
"No matter how much effort we make on behalf of our sector, if it is not possible to prioritize and improve the current conditions, unfortunately the service we offer is reduced and damaged due to the lack of attention and action by the relevant Consistory, the City Council of Teguise," they criticize.
Finally, they hope that "from this new government of Teguise they will be willing to get started and with the necessary desire to change the current situation, just as we do every day leaving our skin to offer an efficient service within the municipality."
