THE UPWARD TREND CONTINUES IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2018

Passenger traffic in the port of La Graciosa has grown by 72% in the last seven years

The Caleta de Sebo dock received a total of 521,152 travelers in 2017 compared to the 301,849 it registered in 2010

Passenger traffic in the port of La Graciosa has grown by 72% in the last seven years, according to figures from the General Directorate of Ports of the Government of the Canary Islands made public by the Data Center of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. And, in 2017, the Caleta de Sebo dock registered a total of 521,152 travelers compared to the 301,849 it registered in 2010. 

Apart from 2011, where passenger traffic in the port of La Graciosa decreased by 13.6% compared to the previous year, you can see an upward trend over the years, which began to become more noticeable from 2014. Specifically, the Caleta de Sebo dock registered 276,732 passengers in 2012 and 285,395 in 2013. In 2014, 352,556 travelers were counted in the port of La Graciosa, while in 2015 there were 406,445 and in 2016 a total of 441,701

From 2016 to 2017 is when the largest increase was recorded, increasing the number of passengers by 79,451 people. And if the data between 2017 and 2018 are compared, it can be seen that the number of travelers at the Caleta de Sebo dock has grown by 219,303. August is historically the month with the highest passenger traffic in the port of the eighth island, with a total of 88,326 people being received in 2017 during this period. 

 

Growth continues for now in 2018


Regarding 2018, passenger traffic in the port of La Graciosa also increased in the first quarter compared to the previous year, specifically by 6.6%. And, the Caleta de Sebo dock received a total of 83,797 travelers from January to March 2018 compared to the 78,595 registered in the first three months of last year, that is, 5,202 more people.

Thus, the growth of passengers that has been manifesting itself on the eighth island since 2010 continues, the date from which the Cabildo Data Center has data on the matter.
