Naviera Armas and Acciona have reached an agreement whereby the Canary Island company takes 92.71% of the former public maritime transport company, which until now was in the hands of the Madrid-based infrastructure management firm. The purchase will mean that the Naviera Armas Group will double its fleet and go from the 14 ships it currently operates to the 32 that will arise from the combination of the two companies. In total it will offer services on 42 routes. The incorporation of the Trasmediterránea vessels will make it, according to its commercial director, Jaime Cabrera, the first shipping company in Spain in number of passenger and ro-ro cargo ships and one of the main ones in the entire European continent.
