The Consumer Confidence Index measures the level of optimism about the current situation and future expectations of citizens in the Canary Islands.

In the first months of 2024, despite falling 7.5 points to 84.3, Lanzarote became the most optimistic island about the present and especially future state of its economy.

The most pronounced drop in Fuerteventura, of 12 points to 81.7, means that the neighboring island no longer leads this ranking of confidence in the economy.

Next are, in this order, Tenerife (73.2), La Palma (72.5), Gran Canaria (71.3), La Gomera (67.1), El Hierro (59.7).

This index fell on all the islands except Tenerife, where it rose two points.

It must be taken into account that the people surveyed must value each situation as the same, better or worse than in the past and with these data an index is calculated that takes a value between 0 and 200.

If the index is above 100 it is understood that there are more favorable than unfavorable opinions. That is, pessimism in most of the citizens of the islands is high, including Lanzarote, despite the fact that the island of Lanzarote has the most positive figures.
