The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands has published the final resolution of the subsidies to the fishermen's associations, their federations and sea cooperatives, whose amount amounts to 900,000 euros for 28 beneficiary entities throughout the archipelago. In Lanzarote, the beneficiaries are La Tiñosa, Playa Blanca and San Ginés, as well as La Graciosa.

The autonomous department has increased the funds for this aid for 2022, with an increase of 205,000 euros compared to last year. These subsidies are aimed at addressing the current expenses of the fishermen's associations, including those generated by the electricity supply; telephony; purchase of consumable office material; hiring mandatory insurance; the occupational risk prevention and safety and hygiene at work plan; labor and tax advice, among others.

The counselor, Alicia Vanoostende, has assured that this subsidy represents "a firm commitment by the regional government to increase the amount of funds so that the sector can develop professional fishing activity with all the guarantees." "This is a strategic sector that has had to face the ravages of the pandemic and the increase in the price of raw materials and fuel, among others," she added.

The provision of cooperatives by islands would be as follows: Nuestra Señora de los Reyes and S.C.M. Pesca Restinga, for El Hierro; Corralejo, Gran Tarajal and Morro Jable, for Fuerteventura; Agaete, Arguineguín, Castillo del Romeral, Pescatobal, Playa de Melenara Marineros and Playa de Mogán, for Gran Canaria; Nuestra Señora del Carmen, for La Gomera; La Tiñosa, Playa Blanca and San Ginés, for Lanzarote; Nuestra Señora de Las Nieves and Nuestra Señora del Carmen, for La Palma; Gran Poder de Dios, Nuestra Señora de La Candaleria, Nuestra Señora de la Consolación, Nuestra Señora de la Luz, Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, San Andrés, San Marcos, San Miguel de Tajao and San Roque e Isla Baja, for Tenerife; and the La Graciosa cooperative, for the eighth Island.
