The PlayEnergy educational workshop of the Endesa Foundation lands this Wednesday in Lanzarote to impart didactic sessions in six schools on the island, from January 24 to 30, with the aim of training and raising awareness among students in the field of science and energy. In this IV edition of the program, more than half a thousand students from educational centers in Arrecife, Teguise and Tías have registered, interested in learning about the world of electricity and promoting the efficient use of energy.
PlayEnergy is a program that seeks to bring the world of electricity closer to the classroom, through games and dynamic experiments coordinated by an expert from Endesa Educa, the same one who travels to the educational center with the necessary material for the development of these activities. In this way, students make contact with the energy ecosystem through practical experiments that help reinforce the theory taught in class.
In a participatory, fun and dynamic environment, the students, for one hour, experience how the various forms of energy are used to obtain electricity. The launch of these workshops starts from the premise "playing to learn". Although the main audience to which it is directed is primary education, the participation of secondary, baccalaureate and university students has progressively increased.
On the other hand, the educational centers that participate in this workshop will be able to register for the PlayEnergy contest during the current course. Participants must think about what their city of the future would be like and present this intelligent urban model in the form of a model or other supports. In the last edition, the CEIP San Matías de La Laguna was distinguished with the second prize for its project 'Tenerife smart island. San Matías, a sustainable neighborhood', in which the students opted for wind, solar and tidal energy. Also in the 2014-2015 edition, a school in Lanzarote, the Arenas Internacional, was the winner of the third prize.
All groups interested in participating in any activity can consult the offer of activities on the web and make their reservation by calling 902 500 049 or sending an email to [email protected]
