The number of companies created in the Canary Islands grew by 9.3% in January compared to the same month of 2021, with 281 new companies, according to the data published last Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In addition, of the total number of new companies with a subscribed capital of 10 million euros, only one is defined as a public limited company, while the rest correspond to limited companies.
The increase in the volume of new companies incorporated in the archipelago has been very favorable compared to the rest of the country, since it almost doubled the average for Spain as a whole, which was 4.9%.
The INE's Commercial Companies Statistics report also reflects the dissolutions of companies in this past month of January, which also experienced considerable increases compared to 2021.
Specifically, there have been 160 dissolutions, 10.3% more than the previous year, a positive figure compared to the national total, where 23.2% more were dissolved than in January 2021.
Also, 90 companies have decided to increase their capital this year in the archipelago, with total figures amounting to 278 million euros.
