Hospiten Group has signed a collaboration agreement with the Federation of Associations of Deaf People of the Canary Islands (Fasican). The meeting was attended by the vice president and CEO of the Hospiten Group, Pedro Luis Cobiella Beauvais, and the president and legal representative of the Federation of Associations of Deaf People of the Canary Islands.

The collaboration agreement was created with the aim of joining efforts to improve the well-being and quality of life of both the deaf community and their families. In addition, it seeks to promote the creation of an accessible and respectful environment for deaf culture and identity, eliminating communication barriers in the health field. With this objective, the general medicine consultation in Spanish Sign Language (LSE) was created at the Hospiten Rambla University Hospital, a pioneering project in Spain.

During the signing, the vice president and CEO of the Hospiten Group, Pedro Luis Cobiella Beauvais, highlighted that "this is another commitment from our Group to be more accessible and inclusive every day. We have seen how the deaf community encounters certain barriers when receiving health care and at Hospiten we want to help eliminate them, to provide a more reliable and effective diagnosis, treatment and follow-up, which also respects the patient's right to privacy."

"It is a project that also wants to stimulate and give vocational opportunities to deaf people to study health and scientific careers," adds Cobiella.

For the president of Fasican, Kevin Pérez, "this collaboration with Hospiten represents a great step towards a more egalitarian society. It implies a commitment to accessibility, a value shared by both entities and which is even more necessary when talking about health care. Therefore, we celebrate this agreement and will try to make the most of the actions included in it."

The lines of collaboration contemplated within the agreement include collaboration for the adaptation of a new workspace located in the Miramar neighborhood, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where Fasican will establish its headquarters. Health care by Hospiten to Fasican users in the Spanish Sign Language Consultation, through free monthly telematic consultations; health training through health promotion talks to Fasican users on topics of interest such as hypertension, diabetes, colon cancer prevention, breast cancer prevention, etc., by the doctor of the LSE Consultation, Dr. Aleida Castro; the promotion of training among health professionals to improve communication with deaf people who come to the services provided by Hospiten.

In short, the new collaboration seeks the possibility of supporting and disseminating actions, services or activities that benefit the deaf community, both by Hospiten and Fasican.
