Grupo Hospiten has announced the construction of a new general university hospital in Boadilla del Monte (Madrid). The project, which will be built on a plot acquired by the company, which has a buildability of 40,000 m2, will involve a total investment of 150 million euros and the generation of more than 350 direct and indirect jobs during the execution of the works.
The company is already working on drafting the basic project and will subsequently request a municipal license to begin construction of the center, which will be located next to the Prado del Espino business park, next to the M-501. The execution period of the works is 24 months and the opening of the future hospital is planned throughout the first semester of 2026. Hospiten has BWRE, a real estate investment manager specialized in the transformation of assets and mixed developments, as an integral project manager, that is, leading the entire process, from the identification and purchase of land to the development of the technical work necessary for the construction of a first-class hospital complex.
With this project, Grupo Hospiten reinforces and expands its position in Madrid, where it already has a presence after acquiring the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid in 2010, a center of reference and excellence for cancer treatment in Spain and Europe. Now, this new general university hospital will be the first it has in Madrid under its own Hospiten brand.

Juan José Hernández, executive president of Grupo Hospiten, explained that “this project was born with the objective of giving continuity to the healthcare work that we have been providing for more than 12 years in Madrid through MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid.” “Our objective is to launch this new general university hospital in Boadilla del Monte as a way to complete the hospital and health offer of an area that has a population of 400,000 inhabitants, between the municipality and its surroundings. As Grupo Hospiten, we are very happy to be able to reinforce our presence in Madrid and in Spain, and above all to be able to work on a new project that will have a first-class human team, cutting-edge technological equipment and a clear commitment to innovation at the service of the well-being of our patients”, he highlighted.
A hospital with 45 specialties spread over 20 functional units
The future hospital center, a level 2 general university hospital, will have a portfolio of services of 45 specialties, spread over 20 functional units, and will generate around 800 jobs, when it comes into operation, between health and non-health personnel. The building will have a constructed area of 30,000 m2, also having an area of 18,000m2 to house its own parking lot with 600 spaces.
The hospital will have differentiated access for patients who come to the Emergency Room, Hospitalization and Outpatient Services. Inside, it will have 160 rooms for hospitalization (140 for individual use and another 20 suites), as well as 30 boxes in the Intensive Care Unit, 30 in the Emergency Room and 22 for the Day Hospital, with the aim of offering effective and patient-centered care that seeks the greatest comfort, privacy and confidentiality.
The facilities are completed with 17 operating rooms, four delivery rooms, a hemodynamics room and up to 80 external consultations for individual use. In addition, it will have cutting-edge technology in diagnostic imaging in line with Hospiten's commitment to innovation at the service of patients' well-being.
The project will be certified to meet the highest demands of energy efficiency, CO2 net zero, with the idea that the future hospital will be environmentally sustainable and maximize the use of natural resources to reduce its ecological footprint and environmental impact.
