The Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and Agenda 2030 has managed to get Airbnb, a platform specializing in the rental of tourist accommodation, to remove from its website the approximately 65,000 unlicensed ads that were requested by the Ministry headed by Pablo Bustinduy.

The removal of these illegal ads comes after the multinational appealed the decision in court on several occasions and the Justice system supported the actions of the Consumer Affairs department.

Following these actions, the Consumer Analysis Unit has identified another 55,000 ads (54,728) that do not have the official registration number, which has been mandatory under current legislation since July 1.

Thus, the Ministry headed by Bustinduy will transfer the information collected in accordance with the provisions of the current legal system so that the ads can be eliminated or corrected by the platform.

The digital file prepared by Consumer Affairs also contains information of interest such as the type of housing (whether it is a room or full accommodation); its geographical information (locality, province and autonomous community); or the available data of the hosts.

With this action, the Ministry headed by Bustinduy ratifies its commitment to enforce the law and guarantee the constitutional right to housing "above the benefits of large multinationals", as the minister has stated in various public interventions.

For this reason, the Consumer Analysis Unit will continue working to identify and report potential illegal ads on the different digital platforms specializing in the rental of tourist accommodation.
