The future university general hospital of the Spanish group Hospiten, with international presence, is already under construction.
Last Wednesday, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for what will be its new center in Boadilla del Monte, in the Community of Madrid. With an area of more than 55,000 m2 buildable, the project is expected to generate 350 jobs during the execution of the works and 800 jobs between health and non-health personnel with its subsequent opening.
Hospiten has BWRE, a real estate investment manager specialized in the transformation of assets and mixed developments, as the integral manager of the project, that is, leading the entire process, from the location, structuring, technical-financial development and Project Management of the necessary works for the construction of a first-class hospital complex and predefined to be configured as a socio-health complex of national reference.
The official event was attended by Javier Úbeda Liébana, Mayor of Boadilla del Monte, Juan José Hernández Rubio, Executive President of Hospiten; Pedro Luis Cobiella Suárez, Honorary President of Hospiten, Pedro Luis Cobiella Beauvais, Vice President and CEO of Hospiten, and Diana Cobiella, Director of Hospiten.
The milestone of the event, which was attended by both personalities and the press, took place at the moment when a symbolic urn was deposited on the land where the future center will be located. It included current elements to record, for the future, the historical moment in which the construction of the future hospital began.
Since Hospiten was founded in 1969 in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife), the company's vision was clear: to create a wellness ecosystem by focusing on the care of people, and integrating technology and innovation for this purpose. 55 years later, and being the only fully Spanish hospital group with an international presence, we are proud to say that our vision continues with this new Hospiten Boadilla center, said the executive president of Hospiten, Juan José Hernández Rubio.
¨It is a pleasure for all of Boadilla to welcome what will be the future university hospital of Hospiten. For us it is a commitment to health, innovation and progress, and we are delighted that it is in the hands of a group of such recognition as Hospiten¨, declared the mayor of the municipality, Javier Úbeda Liébana.
With a total investment of 200 million euros, the future hospital center will house, with a view to the completion of its construction scheduled for mid-2026, a total of 45 medical-surgical specialties. In addition, it will have 160 rooms for hospitalization, including 20 suites, plus 12 beds in the Intensive Care Unit, 20 in Emergency and 22 for the Day Hospital. 17 operating rooms, 5 delivery rooms, around 80 outpatient clinics and a hemodynamics room will complete this first private hospital in the Madrid town of Boadilla.
Caring for people
With this new opening, Hospiten is committed to continuing to demonstrate one of its main objectives as a company: to offer the best care and health care, always focused on people. To this end, together with its more than four dozen specialties, the center will have the most advanced technology in its facilities.

As in the rest of the countries where Hospiten is present —Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama—, in Spain it has centers in the Canary Islands, where it is positioned as one of the most important hospital groups in the Canary archipelago, as well as in Estepona and Algeciras; Hospiten has already risen as a leading private health group in the Community of Madrid with the acquisition of MD Anderson Cancer Center Madrid in 2010, the only subsidiary of the prestigious MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston (Texas, USA). The renowned oncology center contributed to the expansion of Hospiten in the peninsula and today it has a great recognition in the framework of cancer treatment, with a large multidisciplinary team highly qualified.
With the new opening of the university general hospital in Boadilla del Monte, this expansion will continue, betting on the attention and the generation of employment in this locality and in the Community of Madrid as a whole.
