Hospiten Lanzarote celebrates its 20 years of history and does so as the leading private hospital on the island. The center, which began its activity in 1999 in Puerto del Carmen, being the first center of the group to open outside of Tenerife, currently has more than 60 total beds, three operating rooms and has a healthcare activity that exceeds 2,000 annual admissions.

"Currently the center is the largest private healthcare offer on the island and we are proud of it. It was a commitment by the Hospiten Group to offer a new service to the people of Lanzarote and the acceptance was such that since then we have not stopped growing with increasingly broader and better healthcare," said the medical director of Hospiten Lanzarote, Juan Antonio Santana.

Throughout its two decades of history, the center has been expanding its portfolio of services and specialties, among which the progressive increase in the number of beds, the opening of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance service, or the incorporation of the dermatology consultation stand out, "highly demanded on the island due to the limited offer at that time." Specialties such as cardiology, dentistry, neurology and, recently, nephrology have also been incorporated over the years.

On the other hand, Hospiten Lanzarote also pioneered the commitment to clinical video consultation, carrying out medical assistance to patients referred from the specialties of gynecology and internal medicine, mainly through the leadership of Professor Manuel Maynar, Head of the Endoluminal/Endovascular Diagnosis and Treatment Service of Hospiten.

Hospiten's commitment to the population of Lanzarote

Among other improvements resulting from Hospiten's commitment to the population of Lanzarote, a Pain Unit has also been launched this year, an important advance that was created with the aim of improving the treatment of all types of painful conditions and the conditions of all those patients who require special treatments from a multidisciplinary approach.

"I remember with nostalgia our beginnings and the people with whom we shared the illusion of a new and exciting project side by side, which was gradually materializing with work and effort. In a way, Hospiten Lanzarote is a little bit of each of us, who try to give our best every day to help as many as need it," explains Dr. Juan Antonio Santana.

With 50 years of experience, Hospiten has twenty private medical-hospital centers in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama, and more than one hundred outpatient medical centers, under the Clinic Assist brand, serving more than 1,700,000 patients from all over the world annually, and with a staff of more than 5,000 people.
