The Parador de Turismo de San Sebastián hosted the presentation of the audio
guide of La Gomera on the night of Friday, January 25, an event that was
presided over by the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Paulino Rivero. The
initiative of the La Gomera audio guide comes from the Lanzarote company
Canary Islands Car, SL (CICAR), belonging to the Cabrera Medina Group.
Accompanying the President of the Canary Islands Government at the event were the First Vice President
of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Julio Cruz; the President of the Cabildo of
La Gomera, Casimiro Curbelo; the Mayor of San Sebastián, Ángel Luis Castilla;
and the Island Director of the State Administration, Luz Reverón. Mamerto Cabrera also spoke
on behalf of CICAR.
The event began with an explanation about the contents and operation
of the La Palma audio guide by Ildefonso Aguilar, who has
taken care of the composition or selection of the musical band, and is also
author of the design of the CD cover: concept, design and photographs.
Next, on behalf of CICAR, Mamerto Cabrera, pointed out that
"the idea of the audio guides was born because we saw the need to improve the
service we offer to our customers". He also stated that "our
intention is that they have complete and quality information when
tour the islands, and our hope is that they get to know the Canary Islands with us."
Finally, he announced that the 7 audio guides, already published, will be presented at the
company's stand within the framework of FITUR, under the generic name of "audio
guide of the Canary Islands", at the end of this month of January.
The Island Director of the State Administration took the floor first.
who referred to the audio guide as an example of "quality, innovation and
competitiveness that will not leave tourists indifferent".
In his speech, the First Vice President of the Parliament of the Canary Islands said
that "tourists who travel the island in a rental car will have a guide
competent and entertaining on board".
The Mayor of San Sebastián, for his part, argued that the audio guide made
by CICAR "is a very important sound document to publicize the
attractions of the island".
Next, the President of the Gomera Cabildo positively valued the
initiative and said that the audio guide "is a sample of creativity and sensitivity,
cultivated and updated, which will help to publicize the reality of La
Gomera".
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands closed the event, valuing the project that
has been extended to all the islands of the Archipelago. He highlighted the qualitative weight
of the car rental sector without a driver in the tourist area
Canary Islands, and pointed to the company as an "example of innovation and improvement of
the services that add value to tourism on the island". In addition, he asserted that the
improvement of tourism in the Canary Islands "must be based on small details of
quality, such as the La Gomera audio guide".
What is the La Gomera audio guide
The La Gomera audio guide is an innovative service that CICAR offers to
users of their rental cars, at no cost to them. When renting
a CICAR vehicle anywhere in the Gomera region, the user
will receive a CD, in mp3 (audio) format, which describes 14 places of interest on
the island. The client can choose between three languages: Spanish, English and German.
As you travel through the island territory, the user can choose the track
you want to listen to, in accordance with the landscape or the place you have before
yes. When doing so, a voice, whose voiceover in Spanish is by the writer Fernando
G. Delgado, describes the most interesting aspects of the place that is being
traveling on a subtle musical background. The voice in German is from
Stephan Kaiser. The texts are by Mario Alberto Perdomo.
As a complementary support for the audio guide, CICAR offers the user
of the rental car a map of the island with the signaling of the points of
interest, as well as a user manual.
The first audio guide published was that of Lanzarote, a pilot experience
which was followed by the audio guides of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, El Hierro,
Fuerteventura and La Palma.
With this initiative, CICAR makes a long-held aspiration a reality that was conceived
more than two years ago. CICAR tries to contribute, in this way, to spreading the values
cultural and natural values of the Canary Islands among users who are inclined
for their rental cars to travel and get to know it. Likewise, with this
audio guide, CICAR tries to favor a better interpretation of La Gomera to
incorporate the varied leisure offer, both public and private, that the island has.
On the other hand, the audio guide promotes the consumption of local products,
and offers a series of useful tips so that rental car users
contribute to the conservation of the island.
In addition, it is intended to make the audio guide available to the taxi fleet
of La Gomera, at no cost, so that they can use it when carrying out their
services, as was already done on the other islands. The different audio guides
have been carried out in close coordination with the Island Tourist Boards.
